The Community Service Program is an initiative for indigent defendants to pay their court costs through community service.

About the Program

The Community Service Program is a way for qualifying individuals to honor their debts while making an impact in their community. The initiative is not just about meeting court costs, but also about supporting individuals to grow personally as well as professionally. This approach reinforces the belief that everyone deserves a second chance and has the potential to positively impact their community.

FAQs

Participants are required to do a minimum of 8 hours per month.

Yes and No. Participants are allowed to choose their own location as long as it is from the approved community service partner list. Service providers are in Knox and surrounding counties to accommodate participants.

No. The location you choose is for the entire duration of your community service contract.

Participants are required to report progress every month. Time sheets shall be turned in no later than the 30th day of each month. All time sheets shall be submitted in person to the Community Service Director between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
