Clerk of Courts Contributes $1 Million in Excess Fees to Knox County

On June 15th, Mike Hammond, Clerk of Courts, along with his Director of Finance, Stacey Olfe, and Chief Deputy, Kasey Stone, announced a contribution of $1 million in Excess Fees to Knox County for Fiscal Year 2026, presented to Mayor Glenn Jacobs and Chairwoman Gina Oster. This Excess is in addition to the almost $3 million in county fees and taxes collected by Mike Hammond?s office from court costs during this same period. This milestone underscores one of the essential roles of the Knox County Criminal Court as a Constitutional Fee Office, as it remits all Excess Fees to Knox County?s General Fund at the close of each Fiscal Year. This substantial contribution reflects the dedicated efforts of the Deputy Clerks within the Criminal Court, General Sessions Criminal Division Court, and Fourth Circuit Court. Their hard work and unwavering commitment to meticulously documenting court orders and fees have made this achievement possible. Also pictured are Deputy Clerks: Lisa Frazier, Haley Collins, Karen Holloway, Amanda Stiles, Daniel Balo, and Veronica Moss, who all contributed to the success of this achievement through their dedicated efforts. With this latest contribution, Mike Hammond has now delivered nearly $10 million in Excess Fees to Knox County during his time in office, in addition to over $29 million in county fees and taxes derived from court costs.
