Clerk Hammond Turns Over Largest Efficiency Check Yet, $1.32 Million

KNOXVILLE, Tenn.- Criminal Court Clerk Mike Hammond, Finance Director Stacey Olfe, and members of the finance team proudly presented Mayor Jacobs with a check for $1,320,000 on Tuesday, April 23, 2024. This is the largest amount turned over to Knox County since Clerk Hammond took office. The check represents the office’s commitment to serving our community.

“Due to the hard work of our staff, we can present this check to Knox County,” said Clerk Hammond. “We have the best Clerks on the planet.”

Part of the Criminal Court Clerk’s Office's mandate is to collect and distribute fines and fees ordered by the court. Any fees collected beyond the Clerk’s budget are given back to Knox County to support the community and its initiatives. These excess fees, a result of the office’s efficient operations and collection efforts, are a testament to our commitment to responsible financial management.

Since Clerk Hammond began serving in 2014, he and his team have turned over a total of $7,835,544.66 to Knox County.
