Criminal, General Sessions - Criminal, and Fourth Circuit Court Courtrooms and Clerk Offices are located at the City County Building. Courtroom and Clerk's Office Locations

Criminal Courtrooms
  • Division I: First Floor
  • Division II: First Floor
  • Division III: Main Floor
  • Criminal Court Clerk's Office: First Floor, Suite 149

General Sessions - Criminal Courtrooms
All General Sessions - Criminal Courtrooms are located on the main floor of the City County Building. The following types of cases are heard in each court:
  • First Sessions Court: Misdemeanor cases
  • Second Sessions Court: DUI Cases
  • Third Sessions Court: Felony Cases
  • Fourth Sessions Court: Traffic and Bonded Arraignment
  • Fifth Sessions Court: Civil Cases
  • General Sessions - Criminal Clerk's Office: Main Floor, Suite M84

Fourth Circuit Court

The Fourth Circuit Courtroom and Clerk's Office is located on the east end of the City County Building on the main floor. Fourth Circuit hears cases including divorces, orders of protection, and child custody.

Public Transportation

The free Trolley drops off directly out front of the City County Building. For information on the Trolley and Knoxville Area Transit, please visit the Knoxville Area Transit website.

Accessible Parking Options

There are a number of on-street spaces that are reserved for people with disabilities along Hill Avenue (where you would enter the City County Building on the L-1 level) and two on Main Street in front of the Old Court House. Each of these are available for free to use but have two-hour time limits on them. If you have questions regarding accessible parking, please contact the Judicial ADA Coordinator for more information at (865) 215-4437.


Entering the Courthouse

There are two public entrances into the City County Building. Each entrance is a secure entrance with a metal detector and is monitored by security officers. No weapons of any kind can be brought into the courthouse.

Main Street Entrance

If you enter from Main Street, you will be on the main floor of the City County Building. After passing through security, proceed through the glass walkway to the main floor lobby.

Hill Street Entrance

If you enter from Hill Street, you will be on Level L1 of the City County Building. After passing through security, proceed to the elevators to navigate to the main floor or first floor.
